Entry #74 - by Prabhani Wijeratna

Concept

“The Gift That Keeps Giving”

Transform the spirit of Christmas into
an act of sharing knowledge, joy, and sustainability
by creating a “tree” entirely from stacked books.

celebrates the idea of
meaningful gifting while keeping the festivities
eco-friendly and waste-free.

Customization:
The size of the tree can vary based on the number and sizes of the books.
A small version can work as a table centerpiece,
while a larger one can serve as a floor display.

Positive Environmental Impact

1. Zero Waste: At the end of the celebration, the entire tree “disassembles” as guests take books home, leaving no physical waste.

2. Reuse & Repurpose: All materials used, such as books and decorations, are reusable and sustainable.

3. Promotes Sustainability: Inspires others to think creatively about repurposing everyday items for festive celebrations.

4. Reduces Carbon Footprint: No need for plastic or commercially manufactured decorations.

Spreading Happiness

Meaningful Gifting: Guests leave with a book, spreading the joy of reading and learning.
Community Bonding: Encourages interactions as people choose books, share thoughts, and discuss their selections.
Inclusive: Can be adapted to any budget, making it accessible to all.
Interactive: The act of “taking the tree apart” creates a unique and memorable experience
