This boutique hotel, named “Villa by contemporary Ceylon” stands in 360 perch of land in coastal range in Wadduwa, where the architect has endeavored to create a hotel, giving the appearance of contemporary buildings, yet built along with a glistening traditional touch through incorporating materials such as Mirisgal, rubble, timber panels, half rounded tiles for the roof, etc.
One of the most striking elements of this project is the infinity pool one sees through the cavity of the massive, fin wall made of rubble, as entering to the hotel premises. The view of the sea in the vicinity, through the coconut trees planted in the lawn, beyond the infinity pool is marvelous. Several courtyards in the middle are integrated to break the monotony of the building.
The living and the dining areas are the common spaces where people gather habitually. Hence, the architect has made the spaces prominent through the usage of materials. The glass and steel box protruding towards the garden and the sea, in order to capture the maximum view around is ideal for guests to sit and relax or enjoy a stunning sunrise and sunset, whilst enjoying meals.
The Villa by contemporary Ceylon comprises of 2 wings which one has been allocated for client and the family which has 3 bedrooms, attached bathrooms in first floor level, powder room and a visiting room in ground floor, while the other wing caters to guests which consist of 3 rentable rooms with attached bathrooms, Living, dining, bar area, game room and a show kitchen. All the bed rooms and main interactive spaces making way towards a 10 meter stretch of beach in Wadduwa coast.
The building has deliberately placed by keeping considerable gap from the boundary wall from either sides of the hotel, to plant more trees along the sideways, thereby also improving the existing landscape. The architect was very thoughtful while doing the landscape and has managed to have lush landscape towards the edges of the land while having coconut trees in the middle of the lawn with the intention of not blocking the view of the sea.
