Edible Christmas Tree. This innovative, eco-friendly Christmas tree design presents a creative and sustainable solution to the “Tree Without a Tree” competition, promoting environmental consciousness and reducing the need for pine tree harvesting. By blending edible plants, ornamental greenery, and repurposed materials, this design offers an alternative to traditional holiday decorations as a vertical garden, encouraging sustainability without compromising the festive spirit.
The tree is built using a tiered, vertical structure, incorporating a variety of fresh, edible plants, including salad lettuce, bok choy, water spinach , kankun centella and chinese centella. These leafy vegetables require low light intensity, making them ideal for indoor settings. These plants not only contribute to the vibrant, natural appearance of the tree but also support eco-friendly living by promoting homegrown, sustainable ingredients. This edible approach reduces the environmental impact of food transportation and packaging, while also emphasizing self-sufficiency in urban settings where space is limited. The design serves as a beautiful reminder of how nature can be integrated into holiday traditions in meaningful ways.
Sustainable materials are thoughtfully woven into the tree’s design to further reduce its environmental impact.
The Christmas tree is built using recycled plastic lids, repurposed paper cups, cinnamon, star anise, snowflakes from recyclable materials, glass bottles, and fresh edible plants like lettuce, bok choy, Centella.
